Pattaya Car Hire Guide

Pattaya is one of the cities in Thailand that it is located in the east coast of its gulf. On an estimate, it is about 165 kilometres southeast of the city capital of Bangkok. Pattaya is a self-governing municipal area. There are many tourist attractions in this place, making travellers come back to it for another round of adventure. This city is quite rich in history too, as well as being blessed with beautiful and attractive beach resorts.

The Pattaya beaches alone can draw hundreds of tourists in a day because it can provide anything from water activities to relaxation. There are three smaller islands in Pattaya that are great places for water adventures. These are the Ko Lan, Ko Khrok, and Ko Sak islands. If you would like to have a safari-like experience, simply go to the Elephant Village. There you can enjoy rafting on the lake and trekking on the jungle all you want. As for a milder but equally wild adventure, visit the Sri Racha Tiger Zoo and marvel at the sight of the largest reserve of Bengal tigers in there.

Pattaya

If you're coming to Pattaya for a vacation during the peak summer season, make sure that you reserve a car before hand. There are different car hire services around here and they offer competitive rates. However, it is still necessary that you find the best deal in town to maximize your savings, thereby increasing your fun. Major car hire providers have offices here, and they are Budget, Avis, and Holiday. If you can't book a car from them because all of their vehicles are sold out, local providers like Chalee Car Rent, Unity, and Q Cars can serve you.

Should you want to book a car here in Pattaya, do so by logging over the internet. That's the most convenient thing to do because you don't have to go anywhere else or talk to anybody to reserve the car of your choice. Furthermore, you will be able to compare car rates side-by-side from different companies. This way, you can easily find the right car at the best rate. Furthermore, if you book a car online, you can request for your car to be ready for you at the airport where you'll arrive.

Pattaya Apartments - How to Find the Right Apartment

Get to know Pattaya before you rent an apartment in Pattaya for long term. Rent a Motorbike or scooter and explore Pattaya for a few days if you are new to Pattaya. Visit as many areas as you can. You will see which areas you like and which areas fit your budget if you are on a budget.

Most Apartment complexes won't rent to you for less than 3 - 6 months during high season. You want to make sure you like the area that you will be living in. There are as many apartments in Pattaya as there are grains of sand on the beaches in Pattaya.

Pattaya

You will find very large apartment complexes with hundreds of apartments and you will find smaller buildings with 10, 20 or 30 units. You will see so-called serviced apartments which mean nothing more than "ready to move in".

Bring a notepad along and take notes of the areas you like most. Stop by apartment complexes and find the owner, manager or management office. The manager will most likely speak some English.

Talk to tenants and find out if they like living there and if they know about issues, if any. Once you found and narrowed down on an apartment, visit the apartment and area during different times of the day and night. This is important! This is Thailand. You don't want to find out about bars that stay open all night right on your doorstep after you paid your rent and your deposit.

Standard deposit is usually one month rent, but it may be a little bit more than that if there will be a cleaning fee when you move out. Rents vary from as little as 3,500 Baht to 10's of thousands a month depending on size, location, furniture, whether it has a kitchen or not and much more.

Apartments for less than 3500 Baht a month may not be suitable for most westerners. I have seen very nice and clean apartments for 3,500 Baht and I have seen not so nice ones for 10,000 Baht. For 10,000 Baht a month you should be able to rent a very nice 1 room studio style Apartment with a good kitchen and nice furniture.

Understand how much you will be paying for water and electricity. I have heard of low rents but extremely high charges for water and power. Make sure you write down the water and power reading when you move in. Get a copy of the apartment rules if one is available.

Other Things To Consider :
Check that the power works including light fixtures Check there is water in kitchen, bath, and shower Do you need Air Conditioning? Do the windows have screens? Is there safe parking? Make your list...

Pattaya is not your normal kind of city. It is a party town in many areas and when you choose to rent an apartment you may want to check out the vicinity during daytime and nighttime. Are there any bars close by? Bars can be fun for someone coming to visit Pattaya for a short time. Bars may not be so much fun if you have one in your backyard. Bars in Pattaya oftentimes stay open 24/7.

Park Lane: One Bedroom Apartment Rentals in Jomtien Pattaya Thailand

Park Lane. One bedroom apartment rentals in Jomtien.

One bedroom apartment rentals in Jomtien. Which one to choose and which is affordable?

Pattaya

Today there is a huge choice in the one bedroom rental market in Jomtien and Pattaya where prices can be from 10 to 35, 000bt or more a month. Yes there are cheaper one bedroom rentals available but some of these can be in serious need of a little care and attention, also the low price is only for long term rentals not one or two month stays. Now there are new boutique one bedroom apartments being built in Jomtien and Pattaya offering one bedroom apartment rentals at prices as low as 14.000 Baht a month.

These one bedroom apartment rentals offer high class rental accommodations at affordable prices for the average holidaymaker.

Park Lane is one of these new Boutique complexes. Located in Jomtien, Park Lane offers the holiday maker value for money while providing quality accommodation with many added high class facilities included as standard.

Each one bedroom apartment is decorated by the project and has everything you'd expect from a modern holiday rental and with some extra finishing touches.

The basics are as follows:

Interior
Air conditioning Fitted kitchen Sofa Dining table and chairs Bedroom Wardrobe Modern well appointed bathroom facilities.

The project consists of four, eight story buildings surrounding the centre piece of the project which is a 1600 sq.m. Lagoon swimming pool. The pool snakes its way around the entire building complex and is a greatplace to relax in and slowly work your way around the complex in the cool refreshing water.

Another finishing touch is the modern fully equipped gym which is located in the center of the project. Here you can work out while watching people enjoy the long winding pool or just relaxing on one of the many sun loungers that are available.

There's also a restaurant and bar to enjoy. The developers of Park Lane have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Below are some of the other facilities that are at the Park Lane complex.
laundry shuttle bus (This is interesting and I'll explain why a little later) 24 hour reception car parking 24 hour on site security guards elevator each building telephone socket tv outlet internet outlet

ParkLane is a low rise development offering first class rental accommodations with all the facilities you could ask for in your holiday home. So why the shuttle bus?

Above is mentioned all the positive aspects of the Park lane complex.

Modern

One bedroom

Affordable: With prices around 14.000 Baht for the month

And so on. But why so cheap when other one bedroom holiday rentals in Jomtien are costing at least 20.000 Baht a month.

Location and room size. That's why.

Room size 36sqm

The developers have cleverly managed to design a one bedroom apartment with kitchen, lounge, bathroom and separate bedroom all in to 36sqm area. To be fair they've done a good job. The bedroom may not be the biggest but there is a double bed and it is separate from thelounge and kitchen area.

Location and the shuttle bus

The Park Lane complex is at least 800 yards from Jomtien beach Soi Watboon which is past Soi 11 Jomtien beach road. There is no baht bus as such that runs down to the beach in Jomtien so here is where the shuttle bus comes in. Park Lane operates a shuttle bus service to take the residents into Jomtien. Great! But if you just miss the bus it's a half hour to an hour before it returns, so you have to decide if you want to walk or wait. And then how do you get back once in Jomtien? Yes catch the shuttle. From people who I have spoken to they all say Park Lane is a nice place to stay, but their only criticism is the shuttle bus and the inconvenience it has sometimes caused.

If the distance to the beach 800 plus metersand its remoteness from central Jomtien is not a problem and your happy to walk down to the beach or main baht bus route, then Park Lane is well worth the money. If however you want to be close to central Jomtien and be on the main bus route baht then think about it.

Park Lane is very good value for money and offers many first class facilities. It's only draw back is its location from Jomtien and the beach. But in the scheme of things 800 meters isn't that far. Is it?

Jomtien is full of one bedroom apartments for rent. Before you book online, be sure you know where it is your booking. Close to the beach can mean many different things.

Meet the Girls of Pattaya

Pattaya is a place where dreams come true for a lot of guys. It's a beautiful seaside resort, palms lining the blue waters of the Gulf of Thailand and the sun shines almost every day of the year, but it's no secret that it's the girls of Pattaya, that is the biggest draw.

First time visitors to Pattaya, easy to spot with a big grin on their face, often can't believe their eyes. It's like you have been transported and suddenly to another dimension where none of the rules of the outside world apply. Chances are good that Pattaya is pretty close to what many guys imagine paradise on earth to be like! Beautiful Thai women are everywhere and incredibly, they all seem interested in you. Most men can't resist the charms of the girls of Pattaya and spend their vacation with relivingtheir youth. Pattaya girls have that unique gift; to make you feel like you are young, virile and strong again. Like you are still in the game, no longer relegated to the back of the line dating.

Now, there are many places a man might find bliss in Pattaya: the open air beer bars, gogo bars and the flashy the clubs, but there needs to be said a few words of caution. I've seen many guys, fresh to Thailand and a little naive, spend their savings on the wrong kind of girl.

Travel From Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya by Bus or Taxi

Many travelers arriving at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand for the first time have no idea how to find the bus or taxi's to Pattaya.

This article will help the first time traveler to Thailand find the bus and taxi ranks in Bangkok international airport and how to find the meeting point where friends and private hire drivers wait to collect their friends, family and passengers. The first thing people notice when arriving at Bangkok international airport is how far it is from the plane to the customs control. Luckily Bangkok airport have many long moving walk ways which make the journey from the plane to customs much easier especially when carrying heavy bags.

Pattaya

Once you've collected your baggage and cleared customs then comes the problem of leaving the airport and finding your way to Pattaya. At first the size of the airport can be a little intimidating as with all large modern airports but Bangkok airport is not only modern and clean it is also very well sign posted. Look for the blue information signs they're located by all the main exits and above..

When leaving customs you'll enter the main arrivals hall close to Gate 8 on the second floor. To hire a taxi to take you from the airport to Pattaya go down to the first floor. There are plenty of escalators to take you or use the glass lift. On the first floor head for gate 4. Gate 4 is where the taxi rank is located. Just outside the gate is a taxi ticket booth. Go to the booth and tell the assistant where you want to go. The assistant will tell you the price and hand you a ticket. Give this ticket to the taxi driver who is waiting at the booth. The ticket tells the driver where your going and how much to charge. The average charge by taxi to Pattaya is 1500 Baht.

Also from the airport there is a non stop bus service that takes you straight into Pattaya and stops at the mini mart on Thappraya road Jomtien. The bus will also stop along Sukhumvit road in Pattaya if the driver is requested too. To catch the bus for Pattaya, go down to first floor and head towards gate 8. At gate 8 there are ticket booths offering taxi and bus services. The bus to Pattaya is clearly marked and is close to the Magic restaurant. The price of the bus ticket is 124 Baht.

The journey time from Bangkok airport to Pattaya is now only one and a half hours.

While on the first floor you can take advantage of the Magic restaurant. This is the coupon restaurant that mainly Thai's and those in the know use. It's a lot cheaper than the food emporiums found on the third floor. The magic restaurant is clean and cheap and serves a mix of Thai, Muslim and Vietnamese dishes. A meal will cost between 35 and 60 Baht. If you've never used a coupon restaurant before it's very straight forward. Go to the counter and ask for coupons to the value you want to spend in the restaurant. With the coupons go to one of the many food stations inside and order your meal. When finished, any coupons you have not spent are returned at the counter where you bought them from and change to the value of the coupons is returned to you.

So far this article has covered how to find the taxi rank and the bus to Pattaya and along the way somewhere cheap to eat. However! Some who arrive at the airport have a private car waiting to collect them or a friend to meet. To meet friends and relatives and pre arranged private hire cars go to gate 3. Gate 3 is also called the meeting point. All the exits have round numbers above them. As you leave customs control you will be on the second floor near gate 8. At gate 8 there are large blue signs giving important information such as where to find the meeting point. These signs clearly point to gate 3 and the meeting point. Here friends and pre arranged private hire drivers will be waiting to meet you holding up their white boards with their customer names written on them.

A quick re-cap. When leaving customs on the second floor go to gate 3 if your meeting friends or have someone waiting to collect you. Also to be found on the second floor are the Thai tourist police and the lost luggage office. Go down to the first floor to catch a taxi or bus to Pattaya. Also on the first floor is the coupon restaurant. Clean and cheap Thai food.: On all floors there are telephone cum internet stations which cost 10 baht a minute. A little expensive but if you need to make a phone call or use the internet there invaluable

What about the other floors? Well located on the third floor are the restaurants and drink vendors and up on the fourth is the international departures and check in control. This article has dealt with international arrivals and the various ways of traveling to Pattaya. This article has been written through many years of experience of meeting people at Bangkok international airport and listening to the problems they have had finding transport to Pattaya and locating the meeting point at gate 3.

Inside the the airport the floors are marked as Floor 1, Floor 2 and so on

The author sincerely hopes this article will help make the journey to Pattaya from Bangkok airport jut a little easier for the first time traveler to Suvarnabhumi Airport. Pattaya, Thailand Retirement!

Yes, you CAN retire on USD a day!

Although it may be crass to say, MONEY is everything in this world-by having money, you have the FREEDOM to do most anything you want. You're fortunate to live in the West where you have the opportunity to earn and save sufficient capital to last a lifetime. Even if you don't have a lot, most Western countries' governments will guarantee a monthly income (pension) of around ,000 (USD) beginning in your early 60s.

Pattaya

And while not much in your home town, it is A LOT in Pattaya, Thailand.

Here's what I mean:

Sample monthly budget based on day-

Housing (including ALL utilities)-0

Food-0

Transport-

Entertainment-0

Misc/Everything else-0

Not bad, eh! 1/3 of your budget is going towards entertainment which is A LOT of SANOOK (fun) in Pattaya!

While our budget of a day exceeds the ,000 monthly pension mentioned, a little tweaking in the entertainment or miscellaneous categories could bring it in-line. Or, having 0,000 in savings at 6% yields 0 per month thus putting you at the figure.

Note that didn't factor a 'separate' travel fund for the annual trip back to your home country. Inevitably you'll need to back, so ensure you plan for it.

Now if you're too young for a pension, their is hope!

If have around 0,000USD saved, you've hit the mark, assuming a 6% return on your money.

And DON'T be discouraged if you're too young for a pension and short on money--consider 'semi-retirement'.

Make a plan to spend six months or so a year in Pattya, Thailand and the balance working in your home country. This is the 'having your cake and eating it too' strategy!

Go to http://www.retire-to-pattaya-thailand.com for more INSIDER information on retiring to Pattaya, Thailand.

Scuba Diving in Pattaya, Thailand

The picturesque seaside city of Pattaya can be found just to the east of Bangkok and is a popular destination for those who want to take a break from Thailand's capital for a few days. While Pattaya is perhaps best known for its slightly sleazy nightlife scene, the waters here are cool, clear and teeming with a wide range of colourful marine life, making scuba diving Pattaya an excellent option.

A whole host of exciting scuba diving Pattaya sites can be reached in a mere matter of minutes from the mainland and the closest are the so-called Near Islands, which consists of the enchanting islands of Koh Krak and Koh Sak. Slightly further away but still within easy reach for those who embark on day diving trips are the Far Islands. The waters here are also full of a wide range of marine life and among the many tiny islands that make up this collection are Koh Rin, Koh Hua Chang, Koh Badan and Koh Man Wichai.

One of the best things about diving Pattaya is that even first time divers are welcome to join in the fun. All of the instructors that can be found in Pattaya are fully PADI certified and speak a good level of English. Those who are new to the wonderful world of diving Thailand will receive a training session before getting wet and most companies also show divers videos of what can be found in the watery underworld before they set out.

Most of the key diving sites around Pattaya can be found around 20-30 kilometres from the mainland and are controlled by the Royal Thai Navy. One of the most popular sites is the recently sunk HTMS Khram shipwreck, which is home to a large collection of marine life. Also of interest is the old freighter known as the Petchburi Bremen.

Those who have a love for marine life will really be in their element here, as visitors will have plenty of chances to spot colourful fish and other creatures as they explore. Schools of fish such as grouper, barracuda and jacks can be found swimming in and around major wreck sites, while enormous blue spotted stingray and porcupine puffer fish are also waiting to be spotted.

When its time to come up for air for a while, visitors to Pattaya will find plenty of other interesting things to do here. Accommodation comes in all shapes and sizes, to modestly priced guesthouses to world-class hotels, while the range of Western restaurants and bars that can be found close to Pattaya Beach is simply staggering.

Government warns travellers to avoid Bangkok

Australia, Russia and Hong Kong have joined governments around the world in urging their citizens to avoid or reconsider travelling to the protest-hit Bangkok.

The warnings were issued as troops fired warning shots and tear gas in clashes with petrol bomb-hurling protesters in Bangkok, leaving 70 injured, although there were no reports of tourists being involved or hurt.

Under-pressure prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Sunday issued a state of emergency in the capital, after a similar measure was imposed the day before in the popular resort city of Pattaya, 150 kilometres away.

"We urge Australians not in Bangkok to reconsider their need to travel to Bangkok,'' Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith told reporters in Canberra as the security situation in the "Land of Smiles'' deteriorated.

"Those Australians who are in Bangkok, we urge them to stay within their homes or their hotels, to certainly avoid demonstrations and to certainly avoid large gatherings of people,'' Smith added.

Smith's warning echoed an official travel advisory issued Monday, the fourth time in three days that the Australian government's advice on Thailand has been revised in the face of a rapidly evolving crisis.

In Tokyo, the Japanese foreign ministry warned travellers to be on high alert and to stay away from government buildings and street rallies.

The ministry also recommended that Japanese travellers and residents refrain from wearing red or yellow T-shirts to avoid being mistaken for either anti- or pro-government protesters.

A particular feature of the unrest in the past year has been the strong allegiance to colours, with the current anti-government demonstrators wearing red, while last year their opponents adopted yellow as their signature colour.

After an Asian summit in Pattaya was cancelled because of the protests on Saturday, Moscow quickly moved to advise its nationals against travel to Bangkok. Thailand has become increasingly popular with Russians in recent years.

"Russia's foreign ministry recommends that Russian tourists refrain from visiting Bangkok as long as protests continue, and those who stay in the town of Pattaya not to leave their hotels if possible,'' a ministry statement said.

The Philippines, Malaysia and South Korea on Monday also told travellers to stay away from Bangkok or exercise extreme caution there.

And Hong Kong stepped up its travel advisory.

"(The government) strongly urged Hong Kong residents to avoid travelling to Thailand, particularly Bangkok, unless they have an urgent need to do so,'' a spokesman said in a statement.

"Those who are already there should pay close attention to the situation there and stay away from large crowds or protesters.''

Hong Kong's Travel Industry Council estimated there were around 8,000 visitors from Hong Kong currently in Thailand, many who had jetted there over the long Easter weekend holiday.
